Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

 1 Peter 2:4-5

G.E.M.’s  is a ministry group that encourages and instructs young girls (ages5-18) to be godly virtuous young ladies. They are taught manners, etiquette, cooking, sewing, serving and much more.

In Titus 2:4-5, we are told that the older women are to assume the responsibility and provide a proper example for the young women, teaching them character and domestic responsibilities. We, at  New Covenant Worship Center, are so blessed to have many gifted, mature ,spiritual mothers that so graciously pour into the lives of our youth by sharing their gifts and talents.

The girls had a fantastic summer ! In June the young ladies were instructed by Evangelist Norma Marquis (who was assisted by her granddaughter, Sister Kaitlyn Marquis) on how to make homemade raspberry jelly. The finished product was given to their fathers as a Fathers Day gift.

In July the girls celebrated “Christmas in July” by having a Luau at Deaconess Cheryl Montgomery’s. Special guest was Elder Bill Powell who taught the girls how to make turkey cutlets on the grill. The cutlets were marinated in pineapple, cherry, and brown sugar sauce. They also prepared veggie kabobs and chocolate dipped bananas and strawberries. The girls played the Hawaiian Christmas present game and they also had their Christmas gift exchange.

In August the G.E.M.’s and S.W.A.T. came together for “Soul Survivor “ camp meeting at Lake Hope State Park. The 3 day event included first aid dramatization (where the children were put into a certain scenario and taught how to respond.). They also went swimming, hiking, and canoeing. Ministry was held every evening with Reverend Brett Fannin. Each cabin represented one of the twelve tribes of Israel. This year the tribes went on a treasure hunt throughout the Lake Hope State Park area. The treasure hunt ended at the beach where the Tribe of Dan laid claim to the treasure.
