Results from the Missions Trip Bishop James and First Lady Joy Marquis, senior pastors of New Covenant Worship Center of Wellston and the New Covenant Worship Center Missions Department are pleased to share some of the results of their most recent missionary trip to the nations of Guatemala and Honduras that took place September 9th-19th.
“I can’t begin to describe the absolute joy experienced by myself and the other missionaries on this trip. It truly is an honor to help carry the name of Jesus to the nations of the world….to share the love He has for us with the poor and unloved and to feed the hungry is the highest honor a minister can receive,” said Bishop Marquis.
Bishop and First Lady Marquis led a missionary team of nine people from Jackson County in cooperation with Pastor Jose Alvarez and the Cocina del Amor (Love Kitchen Ministries) of Guatemala City, Guatemala. The missionaries traveled extensively through Central America during their ten day trip which took them from the urban slums of Guatemala City to the mountainous regions of Esquipulas and into the city of San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
While in Central America, Bishop Marquis and the missionary team ministered to nearly 5,000 people over the ten day period. While in the mountainous community outside of Esquipulas, Guatemala 1,500 local mountain residents were fed through the distribution of approximately 2,500 pounds of food and provisions. The children of Esquipulas were also treated with a very special gift from the people of Jackson County; nearly 250 impoverished children were each given a ball as a present to take home with them.
The New Covenant Worship Center Missions Department is currently making preparations for local fundraising activities to help finance their 2009 missionary efforts in the United States and abroad.
